The Account Executive:
helping customers to meet their objectives

I enjoy being a Chiesi account exec – it’s varied, challenging and always interesting.
You need all the skills of a good pharma rep, and then some. Nowadays, my job is about a lot more than keeping GPs up to speed about our products. I have customers at every level of the NHS, from the practice nurse upwards, and my task is to explain to them the different ways in which they can use our portfolio to help them meet their local treatment objectives. And to do that, I have to be as focused on patient outcomes as they are – I have to take into account a lot more than just the product.
The different customers I see every day each have their own priorities, and I have to tailor my approach accordingly; the great thing is to see things from their point of view, and where our products the most benefit for them.
I like having sole responsibility for the management and success of my area. You have to be commercially minded, and I personally find it very rewarding to know the contribution that my personal selling, project management, communication and influencing skills make to our sales figures! It’s a great job if you like a challenge, enjoy autonomy, embrace responsibility and expect to be well rewarded for your efforts.
