We actively care for tomorrow

We Actively Care for Tomorrow, or 'WeACT', is our people engagement programme designed to drive positive social impact across the communities in which we live and work. Supporting and engaging with the community is an important part of our shared success. With this programme, we promote long-term sustainable growth and a brighter future for all by working within the community to support local charities and environmental protection initiatives.

 

Every year we provide volunteering opportunities and paid time off work for our employees to engage in activity that improves our local communities. Our employees receive two full volunteer days each year to contribute to initiatives that promote social inclusion and environmental protection. In addition, WeACT Day is our annual event where all employees take part in dedicated community projects that create lasting, positive change.

We have long standing relationships with organisations and charities across our home city of Manchester, and we continue to engage with our local community to understand how we can provide ongoing support and create lasting, positive impact.

ORGANISATIONS WE SUPPORT

Wythenshawe Safespots

Wythenshawe Safespots is a domestic abuse organisation based in South Manchester. It was founded by local survivors of domestic abuse who wanted to help others experiencing abuse by providing a local centre to access help, support and friendship.

Safespots drop-in centre provides a friendly, non-judgemental and confidential service for victims of abuse.

Booth Centre

The Booth Centre is a community run partnership for people experiencing poverty and homelessness across Greater Manchester. For nearly 30 years, the Booth Centre has provided a warm and welcoming space for people in need to access services, enjoy a hot meal, rebuild their lives, and find a home in the community. With a full schedule of well-being activities, sports, volunteering, employment and accommodation support, they are a supportive community that allows everybody to feel at home.

Greggs Breakfast Clubs

The Greggs Foundation aims to build stronger, healthier communities and offers funds, food and resources to those who need it via its three main programmes; school breakfast clubs, community grants and hardship funding for individuals and families experiencing financial crisis. Since their first Breakfast Club opened its doors in 1999, they have now grown their school network to help more than 75,000 children at over 1,000 schools every single day.

Now called Feeding Brighter Futures, the schools programme is expanding to cover even more of the school day. Greggs will be offering funding for breakfast clubs, after school clubs and holiday club provision, and focus on providing children with equal access to extracurricular opportunities to enhance their school experience.
